Hundreds of people carrying the Tricolour took part in ‘tiranga rallies’ in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Sunday, with Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha calling it an indication that people in the Valley now understood “everyone should respect and protect the Tricolour”.
Organised by the Union Territory (UT) administration, similar rallies were held in the Jammu province, including the Pir Panjal and the Chenab Valley regions.
The main event was held along the Dal Lake in Srinagar. Hundreds of people walked over a kilometre from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden, raising slogans like “Jhanda hamara ooncha rahega (our flag will fly high)”.
